I was just reading someone elses blog and she mentioned she had been having bad dreams, this reminded me of a dream I had a few nights ago and it was totally random so thought I would share it....
In my dreams I am always watching the dream as if its a film and I am one of the characters starring in it, im pretty sure they are in black and white too but not 100%. In this dream I lived in a cottage, like one in fairy tales and I wore an olden type dress (great description here). An old lady moved into the cottage next to me. She was really old, small and frail and walked 11 miles each day to buy a 1/4 of a lemon to eat (I know this as the person who was 'me' was gossiping with a neighbour) and she walked really slowly and was all wheezy so it took her all day. Fair enough, except I sold lemons and I was right next door, so I went around with my friend to ask her why she didn't buy my lemons. Ok here comes the freaky bit, the woman grabbed a knife you would use to open envelopes and slit my throat! Then I kind of saw her memories from her head and saw all these memories of people she had killed and she was a serial killer! Then I woke up and was like 'what the heck?!'
So any dream interpreters are welcome to have a go at that one. I actually had loads of nightmares that night but thats the only one I could remember.
Ive been watching alot of the Tudors this week as I didn't watch series 1 on the tv so I have been catching up, this has taken up alot of my time but it has been worth it lol. Today I tried some more wedding dresses, there are too many nice ones, I dont know how i'm going to pick one! I was looking at my arse in the mirrors in the bridal shop and have decided my arse is getting abit fat, not sure what to do about that, never had to monitor my weight or anything before! Well, I have had to monitor it, but only to try get/keep it up!
I keep getting headaches in the late afternoon, it's happened for about 3 days in a row. Yesterday I had to go to sleep because of it but it still didn't go, luckily painkillers seem to have got rid of it so far. I get so sick of something been wrong with me, its either a headache or feeling faint or dizzy or tiredness or stomach ache or something else, it would be nice to just have a day where I feel normal and can do everything I want to do. I know I still manage to do plenty of stuff but it would be nice just to not be 'sick' for once in a while!!

busy old me
Well I have been rather busy over the past few days.
Sunday, Pete and I went to choose our weddings rings, abit early I know but we had a money off voucher from when Pete bought the engagement ring, so we wanted to use it before it ran out. Got to save the pennies! We then went to a bbq in the evening at my parents friends. I was planning to drive home but ended up drinking quite abit and leaving the car there and collecting it the next day. I dont know how these things happen....! I ended up wearing a padded sumo outfit and fighting with my brother (also in a sumo outfit) on a mat outside in the garden (the hostess of this party likes to set up unusual things at her parties), he kicked my arse, he knocked me over and I couldnt get up because the outfit was so heavy plus I was laughing so much I was coughing my guts up. I actually nearly passed out from been so out of breath but it was so funny I didnt care. He rolled me off the mat and then the second time he grabbed my foot and pulled me off, the third time I think he didnt even bother knocking me over, I think I just fell over by myself! Then Pete and I ended up dancing for ages in the front room, at the time I thought I was dancing really good but I think the alcohol may have made me believe this.....
Monday, Pete, my mum and I went to to look at a wedding venue. Didnt like it, it was like some dingy back room with a low ceiling and cheap knives and forks. When something ends in 'hall' I envisage a large room with a high ceiling and big windows, not a room in what only I can describe as something like a basement. We went to look at this other place which was gorgeous but the room I liked only has a minimum of 120 guests, well I dont know that many people.... so dont think we will be having it there.
This wedding venue thing is stressing me out already, im sick of trying to find places and organising to look around them. We looked at this other place last night that was really nice but it has no hotels nearby and all Petes family will be coming from quite far away so will probably want to stay over. There is always something wrong!
My cough is also starting to stress me out and give me headaches, if I dont move its ok but once I start moving etc I can feel it brewing up. Stupid thing, why cant it leave me alone?!
Pete managed to break 2 lawnmowers on monday, firstly ours then my dads that he borrowed but my dad thinks he can fix his (hopefully!). Luckily the neighbour lent us hers, I have gone and bought a new one today, I got a free hedge trimmer with it. Great! My car has gone in for a service today and so I have a courtesy car and its a new bmw, they called to say they need to keep my car until tomorrow. Oh thats a real shame... It was quite handy as the lawn mower would not have fitted in my car very well. You should have seen me carrying it into the flat (the lawn mower not the car), jeez that thing was heavy.

Outpatients
I was pleasantly surprised with my appointment today, first of all there was no traffic as I thought there would be so I got there nice and early. Infact I got there before the staff (outpatients is at a different hospital to the ward so they have to come over from the ward), I was abit worried I had come on the wrong day since I was sat there by myself for about 10 minutes, but I had a walk around and saw all the patient files ready in a box so I knew they were on their way!
I saw the nice doctor today who actually knows what he is talking about and easy to talk to , he is also quite cute which always helps :o) well apart from when you are describing your mucus and poos to him and then its not so good. I hate it when the doctors just fill in the stupid sheet they have and couldn't give a toss what response you give as long as they get their sheet filled in, like for example one of the questions is 'how many times a day do you have a no.2 (except they dont say no.2, they say 'opening your bowls'), if I said '60 times a day' they would just nod their head and put it on the sheet but not actually address the fact I am spending my life on the loo. These type of doctors are generally not proper cf doctors, they spend like 3 months in the cf section then move on, I dont really understand how it all works but if a doctor walks in the room who I have not seen before I sigh a little and think here we go, a waste of 10 minutes of my life! Whats also really annoying is they ask me stuff rather than looking in the notes and sometimes even ask me what I suggest! I mean come on, im good and can usually predict what they will suggest but they need to put that medical degree to some use!
My fev1 was 41%, fev 68%, so the same as when I finished my ivs really. My weight has gone up abit to 57.6kg and my o2 sats were 99%, I cant remember the last time they were that high!
I have been put back on tobi since promixin gave me the headaches, the doctor said this has happened to about 3 other patients and some have even had ct scans on their heads to check everything was ok up there!
I filled in a questionnaire for the psychologist, they are doing some study on depression in cf. I like to do my bit for research!! If im honest I love filling stuff in. Its abit of a weird thing about me, I like filling in application forms and stuff (as long as I don't have to go find stuff to go with it for evidence like birth certificates, statements etc I hate that as it involves me having to move!).
The doctor reckons my cough is being caused by my aspergillus, as my count is quite high and i'm sensitive to it. Aspergillus only causes problems if you are sensitive to it, in other words it is my body trying to deal with it that causes the problems, im sure its not that great for my chest anyway but im comparison to other things it probably would not be a big deal if I wasn't sensitive to it. I actually saw the results today from a cough swab and it would appear my chest has like a billion things growing on it (ok I might be exaggerating abit there, but there were at least 5 things). He says he could put me on steroids and/or voriconazole but as soon as I finish the course the symptoms will come back and the negative side effects from these medications may out weight the benefits. Since the coughing is more of an annoyance than actually affecting my health he said he would see me in 5 weeks and see how im going then. He said I might start some ivs then as I will be due some, I told him I was told not to have ivs 3 monthly anymore, I used to have them 3 monthly however I was feeling, but evidence has now shown it can be toxic or something so they were trying to stop it. The Dr said that because I haven't been well recently it might be a good idea to have some to keep me well, but we will see.
My port flushed well, I was so nervous about having it done! It didnt bleed back (I dont mean it didnt bleed when she took the needle out I mean no blood came out when she tried to get some out with the syringe),the nurse didn't need any blood but was just testing for in the future! I hope it does bleed back, sometimes it depends how you hold your arm or if you cough it bleeds back, weird but it works!
Pete is staying at his parents tonight as he is going out with his friends from back home. So ive had a takeaway pizza and going to watch the Tudors later, I love it! I love the Tudors, im such a geek. I always watch stuff about them and sometimes even find myself on the internet reading about them, how sad am I?! Oh dear, I like filling in forms and researching the Tudors, i'm a right weirdo!
Oh here is a picture of a book the hospital have created about everything to do with cf, 'a nice bit of light reading for me' as the nurse described it! Its got some interesting things in but alot of its too complicated and I cant be bothered to even try understand it! Its good that they make the effort to do these things though, I can refer to it like for example I looked up aspergillus and was going to pretend I knew loads about it when I wrote this blog but I wouldn't want to deceive you
! I thought I would include my hand in the picture to show off my ring off again haha!

warning, alot of wedding talk...get used to it!
I finally have my engagement ring!!! wahoo! Heres a picture, its platinum with a 1/3 carat diamond

I went for a nice curry last night with my friends to celebrate my engagement, I was so full I couldn't breathe haha! Today I have been out with my mum trying on wedding dresses! I tried on some gorgeous ones, I can't say what they were like incase Pete reads this blog! I think I may start trying wedding dresses on regularly for the rest of my life as it's great! Although you do have to stand around in just your knickers whilst the woman puts the different dresses on you, so your baps go right infront of her face. I did get abit pissed off when she told me I needed to stop smoking because I was coughing alot. Also she did the dresses really tight, great I looked really skinny and curvy but at the same time I could not breathe and couldn't cough as I couldn't breathe in hard enough to force a cough out (maybe that a good thing...?!). We also went into the wedding cake shop and also the flower shop to find out when I need to order them.
We dont actually have a date for the wedding yet but we are hoping aug-sep next year. There are two Churches where I live and we went to one of them on tuesday night. Apparently we don't fall under their parish but the law is changing in October so we can still get married there if we like, i'm not sure though, I think the other church is nicer inside and I got christened at the other church and also went to its school so it would make more sense to get married at that one. That church can't see us until the 13th September, but we are looking at some receptions next week as they are the places I think that will be fully booked rather than the churches. I really want a church wedding, I dont go to church or anything (I do pray occasionally, usually when im unhappy or angry) but I really want to get married by a priest, receive a blessing, be able to say prayers and have a reading from the bible. My friend asked me if I believed in God and she was really surprised when I said yes, I think I do anyway. I would like to believe that there is more to life than this, anyway enough on that....!
Poor Murphy has to wear this for the next week after his delicate operation yesterday, bless him. he is recovering well. I think Alfie is missing him, hes acting all miserable, so much for being happy because his mummy is home!

I have outpatients tomorrow, should be fun since its the same junction on the motorway as Leeds festival which is this weekend....! Will probably take me an hour to get there, only usually takes half an hour at the most!

I have returned.....!!
Well I am back after my many adventures around Greece and the Lake District! I would like to announce that hopefully around this time next year I will be a married woman, yes that is right I am engaged to my darling Pete! He popped the question when we went for a walk in the lakes up a hill overlooking Conniston Lake, all very romantic. The ring is too big though, apparently I have very small fingers and it is taking 2 weeks to get the right sized one! Abit gutted that I am engaged and noone can tell at the moment, or maybe they can from the big grin on my face... Its all wedding crazy now, we are going to the first church on tuesday and the other cant see us until september. Not sure which one we will get married at, I suppose the one that will do it haha! My cousin is my chief bridesmaid and also my wedding planner, she has been busy planning whilst I have been away, sometimes having a really organised, bossy cousin is a godsend! I haven't told her i'm home now, i'm still sat in bed and don't want to be dragged out quite yet...

Pete and I in the pool
Pete driving the boat
Nice picture in the sunset
Me doing what I do best, eating!!
In the sea, we found a mysterious shallow bit to stand on!
I also have some rather sad news, poor murphy is getting castrated on wednesday, dont worry I have checked Alfie still has his bits upon my return as my dad kept joking he was going to get him done whilst we were away. So anyway, wish Murphy good luck, poor guy.
The good news is my headaches have gone, they continued for abit whilst in the lakes but I kept getting travel sickness so that may have contributed. The lakes was fun, Petes parents have a house there, its in the middle of nowhere surrounded by sheep. Once Alfie noticed this he wanted to chase after them all the time so had to be put on a lead all the time when outside. Alfie enjoyed the walks, at one point he thought it was funny to run away and make me chase after him up a hill which resulted in me nearly dying and Pete chasing him for about half a mile (the trouble is with Alfie, if he steps behind a leaf you cannot see him because he's so small!) Alfie also enjoyed the fact he was allowed in all the pubs (even though he's underage), we also went on a motor boat which was good although Alfie did not think so. It was really sunny the first day (when Pete proposed) and was quite rainy/grey the other 4 days but we still managed to do lots of things. Including play alot of scrabble, I won every game, oh no wait I didn't , Pete kicked my arse everytime. Here are some pictures from on the motorboat
Greece was also good, however we stayed on Petes dads sailing boat with Petes mum and dad, Petes sister and her friend, abit crowded. Plus I hate camping and this was like camping in a caravan on water, thats also an oven. Therefore although I enjoyed the holiday I did not so much enjoy the living arrangements. Luckily we got the front cabin which is abit bigger (I use the term big loosely), has its own bathroom and a fan. I hate sweating esp salty sweat as mine is because of my cf (we lose more salt in our sweat), I sweated constantly for a week, there was nowhere to go to cool down, it was warmer in the cabins than on deck. We had to use communal showers and toilets some of the time which where like saunas and I do not think were too good for my chest nor my hygiene (you start to sweat again before you have even dried yourself). I did my physio every morning like a good girl and towards the end was coughing up alot of sputum and my chest started to feel abit tight. The hot weather did mean I barley coughed though, as soon as I got off the plane in England I started coughing again, amazing ey?
Anyway accommodation aside and sweating aside we did do some good stuff. We swam in the sea off the side of the boat, hired cars, went to swimming pools, ate lots of nice food, saw amazing views, got to travel around to different places in the boat, I also got to read 3 books which was good because I dont seem to read that much anymore. I'm not complaining but the heat and lack of comfortable surroundings made it difficult and I was glad to be coming home towards the end. Heres some pics
There were Italians everywhere, I was the palest person on the island. Why do I not tan? my arms and chest have browned a little, my legs are still transparent, I even bought some posh pitz buin tan intensifier suncream but it did not help! Anyway glad to be home, to see my little Alfie and to not sweat! haha! Anyway lots to do today, got to unpack, go shopping etc xx

Headache
I've not been too good these past few days and still feeling pretty rubbish. Thursday I slept all afternoon and woke up covered in sweat. In the evening I could feel a headache coming on but it wasn't too bad. Friday morning I woke up with a terrible headache, I couldn't get out of bed and eventually took some ibuprofen and fell back to sleep. I woke up later and the ibuprofen had failed to do it's job, infact my head felt worse! It was a pain right behind my eyes and around the front of my head, I didn't dare cough or even move my eyes around too much as that made it hurt. I did some washing to try take my mind of it and even went into town to collect something, I felt like I was going to pass out walking around so came back home. It did get abit better then got worse again, I bought some paracetamol with codeine, when the boots pharmacist asked if I was on any other medication I said no, they refuse to sell me anything if I tell them I have cf, once another woman would not sell me a canesten tablet!
Anyway these taken with ibuprofen did not take the headache away and I went to bed at 8.30pm as I couldn't even keep my eyes open by this point as the light was painful to my eyes. I had a rubbish nights sleep and continued to take the painkillers even though they were not helping, I was slightly concerned I was overdosing since I decided I would take 3 ibuprofen as well as 2 paracetamol to see if that would help. It helped me sleep if nothing else. This morning the pain had gone abit but it soon came back. Then I started to feel sick and was losing my balance and my vision was abit fuzzy, I couldn't really focus on things. I was near to tears and asked my mum to phone the hospital to see what I should do, i've never had a headache last so long and not go with massive amounts of painkillers.
The ward said it could be my promixin causing the headaches so to stop doing it and they said it could be the codeine causing me to feel woozy. They said I should take no more than 4 doses in one day but I have decided to stop taking it. The doctor then called me back and was asking me if my neck was stiff, he indicated I may have meningitis as my neck is abit sore, he said to call back in 3 hours and I may have to go to A&E!! I had a bath and put my head in the water, its a trick my brother does when he gets headache, it seemed to work abit, the pink dots that were moving on the ceiling above the bath kept me entertained for awhile..... I called the hospital back and they said I could go to see them if I wanted, I said i'll see how it goes as I did feel better but still sick. Anyway, the headache is still there abit and I still feel abit sick but no longer woozy so i'm going to see how it goes. The headache means I have not dared cough for 2 days as it hurts too much, now I feel abit clogged up and flemy, I hope it doesn't affect my chest. Anyway don't think sitting at the laptop is a good way to look after my brain so I shall say goodbye xx

The headache means I have not dared cough for 2 days as it hurts too much, now I feel abit clogged up and flemy, I hope it doesn't affect my chest. Anyway don't think sitting at the laptop is a good way to look after my brain so I shall say goodbye xx
