Sore Chest

On Friday I started to develop a really horrible productive cough and just couldn't stop coughing and coughing stuff up, it was never ending! I did an extra hypertonic saline to try shift some mucus but no sooner had I done it there was more to replace it. I was planning to go swimming but unless the gym don't mind bits of green mucus floating all over their pool, it wasn't going to happen! By Friday afternoon I was getting pains in the middle of my chest, especially on the right side. I didn't sleep well as I coughed during the night and the pain didn't help. On Saturday it was still bad but by Saturday afternoon I was coughing less and by Sunday night the pain seemed to have gone. I'm still really productive but the cough seems to have calmed down abit. I was going to call my team on Monday if it still hurt but I have Outpatients next week so since the pain has gone I didn't see the point.
I don't know if it's infection, or the cold and weather. It seems I was on my IVs at this time last year which makes me think it could be because its turning cold. I always have a more difficult time during winter, it's cold, your don't get as much exercise and there are loads of colds going around. I still haven't had my flu jab because my GP's are a pain in the arse and basically try to make it as difficult as possible!

Pete and I went to see the film 'Let Me In' on Saturday, its about a young girl that is a vampire and makes friends with this young boy. We both thought it was really good, it's not glamorous or sexy like your typical vampire film these days, it's more of what I think it would be like to be a vampire!

On Sunday we went to see Pete's family and went to this buffet lunch, there were starters and a carvery and desserts. You also could get pasta cooked infront of you and pick what went in it, it was really good for a buffet! Pete's got an Iphone now and has this app where you speak to this cartoon and then it repeats what you have said but in a squeaky voice, Pete's nephew who is about 2 and a half found it so funny and was laughing loads, it was really cute!

The other night Pete was making tea and found a caterpillar in the lettuce! We didn't want to put it outside as thought it would die so have put it in a jug and are giving it bit's of lettuce each day. After surviving on a lettuce in the fridge for 6 days, I felt it our duty to try give it a chance! I have tried to find out what type of caterpillar it is but I can't find out, so not sure what to do with it! Most stuff on the Internet is how to kill them! I can't see it this morning amongst the leaves so hope it hasn't crawled away!

Today is remembrance day and it's about to be 11am so I shall finish my entry for today and take a few minutes to be silent xx

Update!

I suppose I should update on how I am doing!

Well the answer is not brilliant. I went to the hospital on Wednesday to continue my IVs, I am now on aztreonam and still on the tobramycin. My lung function was (fev1) 33%, so even lower than when I started my IVs. Infact its the lowest it has been in ages, my fvc was also only like 40% and that's usually in the 60% range. My weight was 53.8kg so now the dietitian is onto me, 'it's easier to lose it than it is to put it back on Gemma', it's so funny that for everyone else its the other way around. People with cf always have to be different! So now I have to have one skandishake per day, I don't like them! They make me feel full and they are a pain to make up, plus i'm going through milk like there is no tomorrow. It is this powdery stuff you have to mix with milk however if you don't use a blender all the powder doesn't dissolve and it tastes horrible, the dietitian has given me a shaker thing (kind of like a cocktail maker) but the same problem occurs. Anyway I'll put up with it for abit because my friend has already commented my legs look skinny and I know weight in important to stay well so I don't want it to get much lower. Plus I don't really have a choice do I?!

I'm fed up and Pete is getting stressed because I'm all useless and just lying around because I am SO tired all the time! I got so frustrated on Friday and was chucking my acapella on the floor because the stupid thing keeps not working properly and I'm annoyed that nothing is ever simple! I'm annoyed people keep ringing me on a morning and waking me up, I'm annoyed I always have stuff to do, I'm annoyed because the doctor said if I don't feel better by next week they might admit me onto the ward to see whats happening and I'm annoyed because my friend has died, there was nothing I could do I know one day it's going to be me and it scares the hell out of me. I remember once when I was in hospital another patient punched the window and broke it and I wondered why the heck someone would do that. Well on Friday I understood why someone would do that...

Anyway on Saturday I felt alot calmer even though I started to cough up blood with black bits in which I assume were clots. So I called the hospital (actually I called my mum first in a panic and then called the hospital) and I have to take some tablets called tranexamic acid to try stop it happening again. My sputum now has just red streaks in it. Oh the joys!

I went to see New Moon (the new twilight film) on Friday, I wasn't majorly impressed but I don't know if that was because of my mood, plus the fact my mate forgot I was on my IVs etc which didn't add much to my mood. I think I should see it again, so might drag Pete along, but shhh!

Honeymoon Pictures

Here are the pictures from the honeymoon! We went to Thailand - Bangkok (3 nights), Chiang Mai (3 nights) and Koh Samui (8 nights).

Yes I had to wear that stupid oxygen mask on the plane, they didn't provide me with any nasal cannulas, I was NOT impressed!!!

Sorry the video is so long, I couldn't be bothered cutting each clip down and I can't figure out how to just select them all and cut them all down at once!

Ps - True Blood has finally come to the UK on normal TV, it starts on Wednesday channel 4 at 10pm. Warning! Its highly addictive!

Wedding madness

Wow can't believe it's friday already! One week today I get married!

I've not really been upto much, just doing loads of small things. We went to see the photographer on Wednesday night to go through everything and I went to see the florist yesterday. It's really annoying because I have written a list of everything I need to do each day next week and there is loads to do but I can't really do any of it this week, so i'm sat around bored knowing I have a hetic week coming up and there is nothing I can do about it!

Heres my schedule for next week

Monday: Hospital appointment, take Alfie for practise run with the dogsitter

Tuesday and Wednesday: Do the favours, pack stayover bags, drop vases off at florists, get hair coloured and cut, wedding rehearsal at the church, do some DIY hair removal with wax (ouchies) ;o)

Thursday: Pick dress up, pick the cake up, go look at the flowers to check are ok, get eyebrows and nails done, drop Alfie off at the dog sitters, go to reception venue to put everything out

Friday: Get married!!!!!!

This weather is horrible, it's either raining or really windy so I haven't been able to take Alfie out so he is fed up too. It's supposed to pick up next week, fingers crossed!!
I've nearly finished watching all the True Blood seasons upto date, going to be lost once i've run out of them to watch! Chantelle is very nice and lending me the books, so that should keep me going for awhile! I also went to the library the other day and ordered some books to take on my honeymoon. I've bought some factor 30 and 50 suncream for our honeymoon (since now I have to stay on voriconazole until the day we set off so will burn easily for the first 5 days!!). So all ready to jet off to Thailand! Thats all for now! Bye!

True Blood

My new obsession is a series called True Blood (Thanks for that Jo!). In this programme vampires live amongst humans since the development of synthetic blood, this means they don't need to drink from humans anymore so want to 'main stream' and have legal rights etc. There is discrimination against vampires, a new illegal drug on the market called 'V' (Vampires blood) and alot of weird vampire/human sex going on, the humans get nicknamed 'fang bangers'. It's quite dark and weird, check out the link, even the opening credits are unusual and strange!
